Diversion signs to take long distance traffic away from this area completely

Thank you for your suggestion. Drivers on the A1(M) are being directed to different exits to reduce the volume of long distance traffic on this stretch of road. Much of the traffic is local traffic and unfortunately there are relatively few alternative routes in the area. However, we are looking at ways of encouraging drivers on the A19 to use the junctions north and south of here where possible.

Thank you for your suggestion. Drivers on the A1(M) are being directed to different exits to reduce the volume of long distance traffic on this stretch of road. Much of the traffic is local traffic and unfortunately there are relatively few alternative routes in the area, however we will be diverting local traffic along York Road where possible and will be installing signage to support this.
